Description :
A striking matched pair of Art Deco–era dress clips featuring luminous blue glass moonstone cabochons arranged in a geometric triangular form. Each clip is bordered in black enamel and accented with clear rhinestones, including baguette and round cuts across the top. The design captures the sophisticated angular elegance of the 1930s–1940s, balancing soft opalescent tones with the crisp sparkle of crystal.
The backs feature finely detailed floral engraving and sturdy hinged clip mechanisms, typical of high-quality period costume jewelry. Though unsigned, the workmanship and materials are consistent with pieces by makers such as Marcel Boucher or Coro. Period: Circa 1940s
Style: Art Deco / Machine Age
Type: Matched pair of dress or fur clips
Material: Silver-tone metal, blue glass “moonstone” cabochons, clear rhinestones, black enamel accents
Construction: Pave-set rhinestones with inset cabochons in tiered triangular frames
Back: Hinged clip with decorative openwork floral pattern
Dimensions: Approx. 1.75 in. high × 1.5 in. wide each
Collecting Note:
These Deco-period clips are admired for their versatile use—they could be worn on lapels, hats, handbags, or shoes—and for their distinctive moonstone-effect glass, which was a hallmark of 1940s costume design. Comparable examples have been attributed to Boucher and Trifari, and pairs of this quality often sell in the £150–£200 range.
