Description :

An exquisite Sèvres-style hand-painted porcelain covered urn, mounted with gilt-bronze (ormolu) handles and trim, retailed by Bailey, Banks & Biddle of Philadelphia. The ovoid body is decorated on one side with a cherub amidst clouds holding pink roses, symbolizing love and innocence, and on the reverse with a mandolin resting on sheet music and floral garlands, representing harmony and the arts. The sky-blue domed lid, adorned with gold scrollwork and topped by a pinecone finial, adds an elegant Rococo flair. The urn features finely detailed raised gilt accents, pierced collar, and ornate scrolling gilt-bronze handles. The footed base rests on a gilt-bronze plinth with a shaped edge.
