Description :

A spiritually resonant pair of limited edition porcelain collector plates sculpted by Laszlo Ispanky, a Hungarian-American master sculptor known for his detailed porcelain and bronze works. Produced by Goebel, West Germany, these plates reflect both artistic depth and religious heritage:

  • The Twelve Tribes of Israel (1978, First Edition, #5380/10,000) – A sculptural portrayal of Jacob surrounded by symbolic representations of the twelve tribes. The relief work is finely modeled, with 18-karat gold trim enhancing its ceremonial elegance.

  • The Ten Commandments (1979, Second Edition, #7445/10,000) – Depicts Moses receiving the tablets, rendered in Ispanky’s signature sculptural style. The plate’s raised design and reverent composition make it a standout piece in Judaica collections.

Both plates are part of a numbered series and were considered luxury commemorative editions, blending faith, history, and fine porcelain artistry.

Note:  Laszlo Ispanky was first and foremost a sculptor, internationally renowned for his work in porcelain and bronze. Born in Budapest in 1919, he gained fame in Hungary for his sculptures before emigrating to the U.S. after the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. He became the Master Sculptor for Cybis Porcelains, and later founded Ispanky Porcelains Ltd., producing highly detailed figurines and commemorative pieces.

His works were selected by the U.S. government as diplomatic gifts and are held in prestigious collections including the Smithsonian, Buckingham Palace, and the Vatican. While some of his pieces may include painted elements, his legacy is rooted in three-dimensional sculptural art, especially in porcelain.
