Description :

Gainsborough Ware was a line of decorative ceramics produced by Haynes, Bennett & Company in the United States, primarily active around the turn of the 20th C.  Here is a whimsical folk motif painted on this vase consistent with the Art Nouveau movement.  Vase is 12 inches tall and 4 inches round at bottom.

Included is a Royal Doulton Dickens Ware Mark Tapley collector square plate.  The illustration is Mark Tapley known for his relentless cheerfulness in the face of adversity (a popular character from the novel Martin Chuzzlewit).  Doulton mark on back of plate. The Dickens Ware was first introduced in 1908 and became one of the company's most successful lines of decorative ceramics.  Measures 8 inches x 8 inches.
