A diverse grouping of artisan and vintage woodcraft, showcasing signed works and skilled hand-carving. Bruce Byall Box (1): Free-form lidded trinket box, hand-carved walnut, dated 1981. Known for its sculptural, organic form. Approx. 2.5" H × 5.5" L. Armin Janell Box (1): Hand-carved box made from ancient New Zealand kauri wood (estimated 30,000–50,000 years old). Signed by maker. Approx. 3" H × 4" L. Tom Woytyshyn Marquetry (1): “Swiss Lake” wood inlay picture, crafted with 13 kinds of wood sourced worldwide. Made under Washington Senior Craftsmen Guild. Approx. 8" W × 6" H. Miniature Shrine (1): Vintage three-panel hinged Christian shrine, intricately hand-carved, approx. 2" H. Era: 20th Century (1980s artisan boxes, mid-century shrine & marquetry) Makers: Bruce Byall (USA), Armin Janell (NZ), Tom Woytyshyn (WA Senior Craftsmen Guild), unknown artisan (shrine) Condition: Very good vintage condition with light wear consistent with age. Historical Note: Bruce Byall became known in the 1980s for his free-form walnut boxes, celebrated for their sculptural elegance. Armin Janell’s use of ancient kauri wood connects contemporary craft to one of the oldest workable timbers in the world. Tom Woytyshyn’s marquetry reflects the Pacific Northwest artisan tradition, with pieces created under the Washington Senior Craftsmen Guild.
