Description :
Peaceable Puffins presents two puffins perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking calm coastal water, with snow‑capped mountains rising behind them under a warm, glowing sky. Birdsall’s signature clarity is evident in the crisp silhouettes, luminous color transitions, and the serene balance between wildlife and landscape. The composition is quiet and contemplative, emphasizing harmony between the birds and their dramatic Alaskan surroundings. This signed print reflects Birdsall’s refined design sense—clean lines, atmospheric gradients, and a distilled, elegant approach to nature. Byron Birdsall was one of Alaska’s most celebrated watercolorists and printmakers, known for his luminous landscapes, wildlife studies, and architectural scenes. Born in Arizona and later based in Anchorage, he developed a distinctive style defined by simplified forms, strong silhouettes, and atmospheric color fields that capture the clarity and grandeur of northern environments. Birdsall earned degrees from Whitman College and the University of Washington, where he studied education and art. Before becoming a full‑time artist, he worked as a teacher and advertising executive, experiences that shaped his disciplined composition and graphic precision. His work has been widely exhibited throughout Alaska and the Pacific Northwest, including: Alaska House Gallery (Fairbanks) Kennecott Gallery (Anchorage) Anchorage Museum exhibitions Numerous regional art festivals, commissions, and public projectsArtist Bio — Byron Birdsall (1937–2016)
