Description :

“Almost There” is an original oil on board by Ross Buckland, depicting a bright orange Noorduyn Norseman flying low over a calm alpine lake in the Alberta Rockies. Towering snow‑capped peaks rise behind dense evergreens, while autumn tones warm the shoreline below. Buckland’s crisp handling of aircraft structure, atmospheric light, and rugged northern terrain creates a vivid sense of motion and anticipation. The composition blends technical accuracy with cinematic clarity—an evocative tribute to bush flying in Canada’s mountain countr

Artist Bio — Ross Buckland (Canadian, b. 1958)

Ross Buckland is a Canadian painter known for his detailed, atmospheric depictions of aviation, wilderness landscapes, and northern maritime subjects. Born in Calgary in 1958, he is largely self‑taught, having refined his technique through independent study after early high‑school art training. His lifelong interest in aircraft—especially bush planes and WWII‑era aviation—shapes the precision and narrative realism that define his work.

Buckland works primarily in oil and acrylic, admired for his luminous skies, crisp detail, and strong sense of place. His paintings have been exhibited in respected venues including Trailside Galleries and Tabora Gallery, and he has earned recognition from the American Society of Aviation Artists, receiving honors such as the Founders’ Gold Award. His work is held in private, corporate, and aviation‑focused collections across North America.
