Description :
“Daredevils” is a rare print by Sandy Jamieson, blending surreal humor with the rugged spirit of northern wilderness culture. A massive leaping fish erupts from the water, colliding mid‑air with a small bush plane in a moment that is both dramatic and playfully absurd. Jamieson’s crisp detail, strong composition, and storytelling flair turn the scene into a tongue‑in‑cheek tribute to the unpredictable adventures of the North. The muted palette and atmospheric landscape ground the fantasy in a believable, distinctly Canadian setting. Sandy Jamieson is a Canadian painter, illustrator, and printmaker celebrated for his humorous, narrative‑driven depictions of northern life. Born in Ontario and raised in the Yukon, Jamieson’s work reflects decades spent living, flying, and traveling across remote Canadian landscapes. His art blends realism with wit—bush pilots, wildlife, trappers, and northern characters rendered with affection and sharp observational detail. Jamieson studied at the Ontario College of Art (now OCAD University), where he trained in illustration and fine art before returning to the North to develop his signature style. His work has been exhibited in Yukon galleries, northern cultural centers, and Canadian aviation and wildlife art shows, and is widely collected by bush pilots, outdoorsmen, and lovers of northern storytelling. His prints—often produced in small or limited runs—are especially sought after for their blend of technical skill, humor, and authentic northern identity.Artist Bio — Sandy Jamieson (Canadian, b. 1950)
