Description :

Set of 3 Vintage Asian Woodblock Prints — Buddhist & Japanese Deity Motifs, Framed

Collection of three vintage framed prints on rice paper, each finely rendered in black and sepia tones with intricate line work and gilded matting.
Depictions include:

  • White Tara or Avalokiteśvara, the Buddhist goddess of compassion

  • Ganesha, the Hindu god of wisdom and remover of obstacles

  • A Japanese folk scene of Hotei (Laughing Buddha) with a geisha, riding a mythical creature

Each piece is framed in coordinating gold-trimmed shadowbox frames with textured linen mats, offering a serene and spiritual aesthetic ideal for meditation spaces or eclectic interiors.

Historical Note:
Traditional Asian woodblock printing originated in China during the Tang Dynasty and spread to Japan and Tibet, where artisans used rice paper and natural pigments to depict sacred imagery and mythological figures. Such prints became important vehicles for spiritual storytelling and cultural exchange.

Good vintage condition; light toning and wear consistent with age.

Approx. 16” × 14” (larger frames) and 14” × 11” (smaller frame).

Estimated Value: $175–$300 (set of 3)
— individual framed prints of similar style and age often sell for $60–$120 each depending on subject and quality.
