Description :
A trio of Meissen “Blue Onion” porcelain trinket dishes, each decorated in the classic cobalt‑blue pattern that has been a hallmark of Meissen craftsmanship since the early 18th century. All three pieces are marked on the underside with the Meissen name along with small crossed‑swords‑style markings. Meissen’s crossed‑swords emblem is one of the oldest continuously used porcelain marks in Europe, introduced in the 1720s. Over the centuries, the form of the swords has shifted slightly, and these variations help narrow down production periods. The combination of:
– the printed or impressed “Meissen” name, and
– small, simplified crossed‑swords‑type marks is consistent with late‑19th to early‑20th‑century Meissen production. During this era, Meissen frequently used auxiliary sword variants on smaller accessory pieces such as butter pats, condiment dishes, and trinket trays. These marks differ from the fully hand‑painted swords of earlier periods but remain authentic factory identifiers for later production. – One dish has a small chip along the edge.
– Light surface wear consistent with age and handling.
– No cracks noted.
– Underside markings remain clear and legible. Small trinket‑dish / butter‑pat size; see photos for scale. A charming and collectible set of Meissen Blue Onion porcelain, with markings aligning to late‑19th to early‑20th‑century factory production.Era & Mark Notes
