Description :
A beautifully decorated blue‑and‑white Meissen serving platter featuring classic floral and foliate motifs across the face. The glaze remains bright, the cobalt decoration crisp, and the overall presentation elegant and balanced—an excellent example of Meissen’s long‑established porcelain tradition. The underside carries multiple factory marks, including:
• A circular MEISSEN mark with a star above
• An impressed MEISSEN stamp
• An impressed 7 production notation Historical Note:
Meissen, founded in 1710 under Augustus the Strong, was the first European hard‑paste porcelain manufactory and set the standard for all that followed. While the iconic crossed‑swords mark is the factory’s most recognized emblem, Meissen also used a variety of impressed and printed word‑marks—particularly on utilitarian and tableware forms produced in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Circular “MEISSEN” stamps and impressed model or batch numbers were common on service pieces, helping identify workshop origin and production sequence. These marks reflect the factory’s transition into more modernized manufacturing while still maintaining the hand‑finished quality that collectors value. The face of the platter is in great vintage condition with no cracks, repairs, or surface losses. A tiny chip is present on the underside rim, not visible during display and consistent with age and handling. A handsome and authentic Meissen serving piece, suitable for collectors, decorators, and those seeking genuine European porcelain. Condition:
Great vintage condition. Tiny chip on underside rim; face clean and well‑preserved.
Dimensions : 19 in L x 13 in W
