Description :
Lot of 5 Vintage Cruver WWII Aircraft & Early Automobile Models – Black Plastic Desk Models, 1940s–50s Rare collection of mid-20th century black plastic models, including WWII-era aircraft by Cruver and early 1900s automobile replicas. These models were originally produced during the 1940s–50s, often sold through hobby shops and military surplus outlets, and are now highly collectible for both aviation and automotive history enthusiasts. Includes: Cruver WWII U.S. Navy SB2C-1 Helldiver Desk Model – 1/72 scale, marked with “C” in circle (Cruver), wingspan approx. 8.5". Produced in the 1940s as part of wartime recognition training and later hobby distribution. Cruver WWII Fighter Aircraft Desk Model – Black plastic, detailed cockpit and wing molding, approx. 7.5" wingspan. Early 1900s Automobile Replicas (3 total) – Black plastic, highly detailed early motorcars including a coupe, touring car, and enclosed cab, each approx. 3.5"–5" long. Measurements: Approx. 3.5" to 8.5" across. Historical Note: Cruver Co. of Chicago produced these black plastic aircraft models during WWII for the U.S. Navy as recognition training tools, teaching pilots and gunners how to quickly identify friend and foe silhouettes. After the war, many were sold in hobby shops, making them a fascinating intersection of military history and mid-century Americana.
Condition: Good vintage condition with light surface wear typical of age. No major cracks or warping observed.
