Description :
A replica inspired by Erasmus Grasser’s iconic Moriskentänzer figures, originally sculpted circa 1480 for Munich’s Old Town Hall. This figure echoes the dynamic posture and ornate costume of the historical Moorish dancers, complete with bell accents and stylized movement. The design references the Betley window and is part of a tradition that influenced Morri's dancing across Europe. Dimensions: 12" H × 8" L × 7" W Material: Painted composite with metallic detailing Condition: New in box (NIB); no visible flaws Provenance Note: Modeled after the Die Moriskentänzer figures housed in the Münchener Stadtmuseum Historical Reference: Erasmus Grasser’s Morisken dancers are considered foundational to European dance iconography, as discussed in Francis Douce’s Illustrations of Shakespeare and of Ancient Manners (1807)
