Description :

A carved stone figure depicting Budai, the Laughing Buddha, seated atop a Qilin — the mythical guardian beast revered in Chinese folklore. Budai, known for his joyful demeanor and rotund belly, holds a scroll across his lap, symbolizing wisdom and abundance. The Qilin features a dragon-like head, open jaws, scaled body, and muscular limbs, embodying strength, harmony, and good fortune.

Dimensions: 8" L x 3" W x 7.5" H

The sculpture rests on an integrated plinth and displays warm cream and tan hues with a soft patina from age. Likely mid-20th century, this piece reflects enduring themes of happiness and protection, making it a meaningful addition to any Asian art collection.
