Description :
Manufactured by The Exact Weight Scale Co., Columbus, Ohio, this early 20th-century commercial balance scale is marked with multiple U.S. patents from November 1921 and February 1922. The cast-iron base retains its original green paint and supports two weighing pans—one round, one rectangular—designed for general goods weighing. The front face features the “Exact Weight” indicator dial with “Under” and “Over” calibration markers. Affixed are official State of Oregon Department of Agriculture Weights and Measures seals and inspection stickers dated 1964, 1975, and 1976, confirming its regulated use over decades. The identification plate lists serial number 211086, style 8009, and the registered trademark “Exact Weight.” Licensed for commercial use with a weighing capacity under 400 lbs. Dimensions (approx.): 20 in L × 8 in W × 19 in H Condition: Original paint with age-consistent wear, surface rust, and patina. All components intact, including balance beam, pans, and adjustment weight. The Exact Weight Scale Co., based in Columbus, Ohio, evolved from the Smith Scale Company in the early 20th century. Known for precision and durability, their patented designs from 1921–1922 were widely adopted in regulated trade. Their scales, often state-certified, reflect the era’s industrial craftsmanship and commercial standards.
