Description :
Overview
This eclectic lot brings together four distinct pieces spanning early aviation, mid-century aerospace, and speculative spaceflight. From WWI-era aircraft to hypersonic vehicle design, the collection offers a compelling snapshot of technological ambition and visual storytelling. Contents & Highlights Gilmore Gee Bee / Doolittle Poster – A vivid illustration of a red aircraft with white markings and a red cross, possibly referencing the iconic Gee Bee racers or a stylized tribute to Jimmy Doolittle. “Journey to the Stars” Poster (1962) – A printed page featuring a futuristic spacecraft flying above Earth, with diagrams and text suggesting advanced aerospace concepts. Likely excerpted from a mid-century science or engineering publication. Vintage Biplane Photograph – Black-and-white image of uniformed individuals standing before a striped-nose biplane. The attire and aircraft suggest a WWI or interwar setting, possibly military or training-related. Handwritten Boeing Lecture Poster (1962) – A charmingly hand-lettered announcement for a talk by Allen Caldwell, OSU graduate and Boeing engineer, titled “Design of Hypersonic Vehicles.” Hosted by IAS-ASME at Dearborn Hall, January 31, 1962.
