Description :

Vintage metal wall hanging of the Bavarian coat of arms. Back of the piece has a makers mark. Each section of the coat of arms has significant meaning:


Golden Lion: Represents the Upper Palatinate and was the heraldic animal of the Wittelsbach family, who ruled Bavaria. 

Franconian Rake: Refers to three regions of Franconia and first appeared as the sign of the bishopric Würzburg. 

Blue Panther: Symbolizes Upper and Lower Bavaria and was once associated with the Ortenburg family. 

Three Stacked Lions: Represent Swabia and were the coat of arms of the Staufers (Hohenstaufen family). 

Heart Shield (blue and white lozenges): This central element symbolizes Bavaria as a whole and is also seen on the Bavarian flag.
