Description :

Description: A beautifully preserved hand-painted Nippon biscuit jar, dating to circa 1911. The upper body and lid are adorned with delicate pink cherry blossoms and soft green leaves, set against a lace-like background. Rich gold trim encircles the lid, rim, and base, with ornate scrollwork and a sculpted gold handle. The jar stands on three shell-shaped gilt feet, adding elegance and elevation.

Design Notes:

  • Motif: Cherry blossoms with raised gold scrollwork

  • Color palette: Pink, white, green, and heavy gold accents

  • Form: Rounded body with domed lid and triple-footed base

  • Dimensions: 7" W × 7.5" H

Condition: Excellent; no chips or cracks noted. Gilding and enamel appear vibrant and intact.

Historical Note: Marked “Nippon,” this jar was produced for export during Japan’s Meiji era. Cherry blossoms symbolize renewal and beauty, while the heavy gilt and ornate feet reflect the opulence favored in early 20th-century decorative arts.

Dimensions : 7 in W x 7.5 in H
