Description :
This vibrant and historically significant World War I poster features artwork by renowned illustrator Clyde Forsythe. The colors remain exceptionally bright, preserving the urgency and patriotic spirit of the era. Though it shows minor damage (visible in the images), the poster has been carefully stored rolled up for over 60 years, contributing to its well-preserved condition. It is professionally framed, measuring 41¼" x 31¼", ready for display in any collector’s gallery or historical archive. Artist bio: Victor Clyde Forsythe (1885–1962) was an American illustrator and painter best known for his World War I propaganda posters and evocative desert landscapes. Born in Orange, California, Forsythe grew up surrounded by Western lore—his parents once ran a store next to the O.K. Corral in Tombstone, Arizona. He studied at the Los Angeles School of Art & Design and later at the Art Students League in New York under Frank DuMond. Forsythe began his career as a cartoonist for major newspapers including the New York World and New York Journal, where he became a prominent figure in early American comic art. He was also a mentor and studio-mate to Norman Rockwell, helping launch Rockwell’s career at The Saturday Evening Post. In the 1920s, Forsythe left the bustling East Coast art scene to focus on painting the California desert, becoming one of the original “Desert Painters.” His work captures both the stark beauty and rugged spirit of the American Southwest.
