Description :

1988 Mongwa Kachina by W. Volz – Feathered Owl - Broken Tail

This striking 16.25" tall vintage Mongwa (Great Horned Owl) Kachina was carved by W. Volz and dated 1988. Known as a warrior and protector figure in Hopi tradition, Mongwa is revered for his sharp vision and fearsome strength—qualities well captured in this bold piece.

Hand-carved with intricate details including layered feathers, vibrant paints, a feathered rattle, and hand-formed accessories, this figure also includes its original (but detached) tail, which can be easily reattached or displayed alongside the piece.

Condition: Overall very good vintage condition. Some minor wear consistent with age. Tail has detached but is included and intact. Please see photos for full details.

Whether you’re a collector of Native American art, Southwestern décor, or just want a wise owl warrior on your shelf—this one brings a lot of personality (and a detachable tail for bonus points).

Dimensions : 16.25 in H
