Description :
All items relate in some way to
Alan Shepard’s ground-breaking flight on May 6, 1961.
Mercury 7 Placard with color image
of the McDonell-made capsule on the front & cut-away interior on the back.
printed on cardstock. Measures approx. 9.5” H x 8.5” W. Good condition
Mercury Spacecraft placard with
color image on one side. On cardstock, measures approx. 11”H x shy 8” W. In poor condition with tape & soiling evident.
Freedom 7 pamphlet (1962) with
detailed info about the mission and advertising Savings Bonds.
MEN IN SPACE softbound Golden
Stamp Book from Golden Press/Life Magazine. 48 pages, 1961. Color stamps on
every page have been collected so the book is complete. In decent vintage
shape, but the paper is somewhat brittle and the glue holding pages collated is
flaking. Would benefit from having pages put separately into page protectors to
minimize cracking & wear (would also make things easier to view). Goes
through the Mercury astronauts time-wise.
EXPLORING SPACE – PROJECT MERCURY
booklet from NASA. Early 1960s, in excellent vintage condition.
SPACE FLIGHT OF ASTRONAUT SHEPARD
& THE FREEDOM 7. No identifiable publisher/source – appears to be
contemporary with the flight. In excellent vintage condition.
SPACEPORT NEWS from KSC (May 6,
1971). Headline celebrates Shepard’s 10th Anniversary of his flight.
8 pages – excellent vintage condition.
