Description :
Offered for auction is a classic framed art print featuring The Gleaners (Des glaneuses), the celebrated 1857 masterpiece by French Realist artist Jean-François Millet. This print captures the iconic rural scene of three peasant women gleaning leftover stalks of wheat in a field after the harvest, a poignant depiction of poverty and rural labor. The piece is presented in a professional frame and is ready to add a touch of historical and artistic elegance to any collection. The detailed imagery remains faithful to the composition of the original oil painting, highlighting the dignity and hardship central to Millet's most famous work. Artist Biography:
Jean-François Millet (1814–1875) was a French painter and one of the founders of the Barbizon school in rural France. Millet is noted for his scenes of peasant farmers; he can be categorized as part of the Realist art movement. His work is characterized by a deep empathy for the rural working class, often elevating the status of manual labor to a subject worthy of high art. The Gleaners remains his most famous contribution to art history, serving as a powerful visual narrative of the social and economic disparities of mid-19th-century France.
