Description :
Pair of vintage wooden ammunition crates representing two major American ammunition manufacturers of the early 20th century. The lot includes: 1. Remington Express Ammunition Crate — Bridgeport, Connecticut (c. 1920s–1930s)
Wooden Remington Express crate with red and green stenciled branding for “Extra Long Range Shotgun Shells” loads. The Bridgeport, Connecticut marking places this example within the period when Remington’s Bridgeport plant was the primary production site for commercial shotshells, most active from the 1920s through the mid‑1930s. Dovetail joinery, worn paint, and age‑consistent patina remain visible on all sides. 2. Western Cartridge Company “World Champion Ammunition” Crate — East Alton, Illinois (c. 1930s–1940s)
Wooden Western Cartridge Company crate featuring the bold “World Champion Ammunition” branding used prominently during the 1930s and into the 1940s. Produced in East Alton, Illinois, this crate reflects Western’s well‑known marketing era prior to and during its wartime production boom. Surfaces show expected wear, fading, and handling marks from long‑term storage and use. Both crates retain legible advertising graphics and authentic working‑era wear, making them appealing display pieces for collectors of ammunition memorabilia, sporting history, or rustic décor.
