Description :

A pair of carved Chinese jade decorative objects offered together as a single lot.

Included is a reclining mythical beast carving, possibly a Pixiu or qilin, carved from celadon green nephrite jade displaying attractive natural russet skin coloration within the stone. The carving is presented on a traditional carved hardwood display stand.

Also included is a pierced jade plaque featuring openwork carving and stylized bat and scroll motifs symbolizing good fortune and happiness in Chinese culture.

Both pieces appear to be natural nephrite jade with soft translucency and natural color variation typical of the stone. These types of carvings were often produced during the late Qing to Republic period as decorative scholar’s objects or auspicious ornaments.

Condition is good estate condition with minor surface wear consistent with age. The hardwood display stand for the animal carving is included.

A lovely pair of traditional Chinese jade carvings that will display beautifully in a cabinet or scholar’s desk setting.

Please review all photos carefully for details of size and condition as they are part of the description.
