Description :
Navajo Biil (Rug Dress)
A biil is a traditional Diné (Navajo) woman’s dress made from two woven panels stitched together at the shoulders and sides. It is one of the oldest forms of Navajo clothing and was commonly worn before the 1860s. The panels are woven from wool and usually have simple banded patterns. The dress is worn with a sash or belt and is still used today for special occasions such as weddings and graduations. Biils are typically made for personal or ceremonial use rather than commercial sale.
