Description :

A graceful composition in the East Asian brush painting tradition, this work by Yvonne Palka features vibrant green bamboo stalks and leaves rendered in expressive sumi ink and color. The vertical rhythm of the stalks is softened by fluid brushwork and delicate tonal variation, evoking both strength and serenity. A red seal stamp and handwritten signature anchor the piece in tradition, while the museum quality framing on clean matting and black frame offer a contemporary presentation.

Yvonne Palka was a Seattle-area artist and educator whose work blended spiritual reflection, nature reverence, and East Asian aesthetics. She authored Super Simple Sumi-e: Easy Asian Brush Painting for All Ages and illustrated several award-winning books, including The Brush Dances & the Light Sings, a collaborative tribute to her life and art. Her paintings often explore the quiet power of nature—bamboo, dragons, and coastal landscapes—through meditative brushwork and poetic simplicity. Palka lived in Langley, Washington, and taught at Antioch University Seattle for over two decades
