Description :

These are likely African prestige axes, potentially from the Chokwe or Tsonga/Shona ethnic groups. The axe on the left appears to be a Chokwe prestige axe, possibly featuring a blade with pointillist incisions and a decorated wooden handle with brass studs or tacks. The axe on the right has a dark handle and a distinct, broad, curved metal blade. Such axes were often objects of exchange and trade, as well as potential ceremonial objects for chiefs. They were traditionally forged by blacksmiths using adzes and knives for carving and polishing the wood handles and blades.
